Looking the future possibility to provide my posts in eBook format I search, collect and instructed in everything related with this format. Although in the end I have rejected it because some readers dont support images and they can explain more than many words, so I want to offer for those who want to create your own eBook or convert DOC, RTF or PDF to eBook format.
EPUB o ePub (short of electronic publication) is a free and open e-book standard by IDPF (International Digital Publishing Forum). EPUB is designed for reflowable content, meaning that the text display can be optimized for the particular display device used by the reader of the EPUB-formatted book, although EPUB now also supports fixed-layout content. The format is meant to function as a single format that publishers and conversion houses can use in-house, as well as for distribution and sale.
EPUB file is a ZIP file contains 3 XML files based on three open standards such as (OPS) Open Publication Structure, OPF (Open Packaging Format) and OCF (OEBPS Container Format). ePub files end with .epub extension.
Here as in other posts always I try to put free software and not have to pay, in addition, more than ever now that is approved the Sinde law (like SOPA/PIPA, but in Spain)…already will find a solution to the problem.
Now, the problem is that the programs I've tested there is no "all-in-one", but depending on WHAT you want to do there are programs more successful than others.
This program is for convert and editing of metadata (title, author, publisher, covers, publication date, language…).
The formats can be opened are: CBZ, CBR, CBC, CHM, DJVU, EPUB, FB2, HTML, HTMLZ, LIT, LRF, MOBI, ODT, PDF, PRC, PDB, PML, RB, RTF, SNB, TCR, TXT , TXTZ, if only we will focus on the important by order of preference: LIT, MOBI, EPUB, FB2, HTML, PRC, RTF, PDB, TXT, PDF.
Is preferably to use RTF against PDF so gives many problems in conversion, to give you an idea these are some drawbacks to working with PDF:
- Headers and footers will be processed as text.
- Complex documents, in multiple columns and based on images are not supported.
- Vector images and tables are also not supported.
- Some special characters in the PDF internally used to display them.
- Images with rotate instructions, turned…are not supported.
- The links and tables of contents are not supported.
- No-Unicode fonts with non-English characters may have garbled output.
- Pictures with OCR text may lead to different results in the PDF.
If you still working with PDF as input document, prepare for the output document comes from decent to any thing.
